Our goal is to make an entry every week (as long as the sleep deprivation doesn’t get to us). This will be an online journal for us and give our friends and family the opportunity to see what’s going on with our family.

Please feel free to leave a comment and let us know how you are doing.

So, I figure as long as we update our blog once every quarter that’s ok...right. The truth is I was dragging my feet to see if Meg would take over--no such luck, yet.

The big news around the ranch is that Meg is pregos! We found out last week that we are having boy #2. Joe is very excited that he is one boy closer to completing his basketball team. We still aren’t sure how Miles feels about the whole thing. Somedays he’s excited and talks about it while other days he ignores all conversations surrounding another child in the house. We have a big boy bed on order for him and since his crib no longer contains him, we figure making the transition now will help. Meg is due in July so we still have some time to help him prepare for what is to come.

As for Meg she stays busy with Miles and has adjusted very well to life here in the bay area. While we still miss many aspects of living in LA, we have made some great friends and Meg feels she has a handle on the mommy scene--she knows all the hot spots. She and Miles frequent several parks, The Childrens’ Museum, library reading time and music class. Miles loves it all. He recently had his first of what I am sure will be many acceptances :), he was accepted to pre-school! We are excited to begin that adventure in the fall.

Joe is just livin’ the dream. He loves his four minute commute to work and things at the practice could not be better. He and his partner are expanding their practice quite a bit. Joe has been doing more and more surgical and IV sedation procedures which he really enjoys.

Rather than expand on the details of the last four months check out our picture page to see what’s been going on.

Until next time...
A red Elmo cake and a two year old are an interesting combination! Fortunately, we celebrated Miles’ birthday in Joe’s mom’s backyard which made for easy cleanup. His official birthday is on Tuesday but we decided to have the big shin-dig this Saturday. It was a blast and Miles loved having all of his friends and family there to celebrate. The smile on his face when he saw his Elmo cake made the hours Meg spent working on it all worth it. Check out the pictures page to see some of the action.

We have now been up here in our new home for 4 months. In a way it seems longer as we really love it here and have made many great friends. Joe’s job is going better than he could’ve hoped. The practice just moved into a new office which was modeled after the Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco--yeah, it’s nice. Meg has been busy entertaining Miles and making our house homey. Since moving here Meg and Miles have started going to all kinds of activities ranging from music class to a full kiddy gym. Joe feels a bit left out of all the fun stuff they do, but someone has to pay the bills.

We love visitors so if any of you want to visit, just let us know.

Until next time...

It has been crazy busy since our last entry. We spent a week in Florida for the wedding of Joe’s younger brother Mike. He married a wonderful girl named Mary (see below).

After Florida (literally the day we got home) we unpacked, repacked and headed up to San Luis Obispo where Joe completed a two week externship at a community health center. It was an awesome experience as Joe was one of the charter students to initiate the new program. It gave him an opportunity to test his dental skills in a “real world” setting. From there it was up to the Bay Area for Mike and Mary’s open house. Finally, it was back to LA where Joe took his licensing exam (which he passed, yeah!!). Graduation from USC was the following week. It was so much fun to have our families in town for the event and to celebrate our accomplishments together. Now we are busily preparing for our move up North to our new lives.

Through it all Miles has been a trooper. Despite belonging to a couple of vagabonds, he couldn’t be happier. He continues to surprise us with new words that he is learning and we have learned to be selective in our word choices as Miles repeats everything we say. He is such a joy in our lives, and although he can be a bit of a pill at times we couldn’t be happier. We had many opportunities over the last two months to go to the beach and Miles loves it, he is definitely a Cali boy. We hope that the colder ocean up north won’t deter him.

We thank all of you for your support over the last four crazy years. We hope to find a bit or normalcy now that our educational endeavors have come to an end, but we fear that the craziness has only begun.

As you can tell from the picture above and some of the other pictures in our album, Miles had his first trip to the zoo. He loved it! He growled at the lions, chirped at the birds and even mooed at the cow. We spent a week in Dallas for a dental conference and decided to take advantage of some down time and the hospitality of a friend of Meg’s and spent an afternoon at the Fort Worth Zoo. It is so much fun to watch Miles discover the world around him and see more and more of his active personality.

Meg had her last class this past weekend and it feels good. She has one final project to complete then she is done! She makes it clear to Joe that he will have to refer to her as Master from now on. (Only because he insists on being called Doctor.)

Having finished all of his requirements for graduation, Joe has been busy preparing for his licensing exam. It is his last hurdle before graduation. His conference is Dallas went great and he received an award for his time devoted on the Board of Directors of the American Dental Education Association. He also received many high compliments from those with whom he worked. They are sad to lose him and hope he returns to dental education some day. Miles and Meg are very proud.

Until next time...

Yes, it has been over two months since the last entry. In all fairness, to us it feels like it was yesterday. Time has flown by lately and we have done a good job of keeping our feet on the accelerator.

Since the last post there has been quite a lot of traveling; Canada, DC, Terra Bella (central California), Bay Area, and this week it’s off to Dallas. It hasn’t been all work; we have taken time to hit up Disneyland a few times and this weekend we took advantage of some great weather and went to the beach. Miles loved it, despite the cold water he couldn’t get enough. He is so much fun and such a blessing in our lives. He continues to amaze us with his signs and words he is picking up on. Today, in honor of Easter he said “Jesus” for the first time, very cute. We tried to do an Easter egg hunt at the park with some of his friends, but he was much more interested in the swing--maybe next year.

Meg has been busily managing her last semester of her masters program. We have had a few conflicts with scheduling this semester (big surprise) so our family has been nice enough to come and help out with the little guy. Her last class is on April 5th and she can’t wait.

Joe is also doing well, tomorrow afternoon he is cementing a bridge, which will be his last requirement for graduation. This week he took his part II boards and feels good about it, but feels even better knowing that they are over. He has also been busy getting everything ready to apply for his dental license. In his spare time he has been attending CE courses which are getting him excited to finally enter the “real world”.

As a side note, we are selling our condo in anticipation of our move up North. If you know anyone interested, have them check out the website:

www.montereyhillscondo.info

Until next time...
